Permit Information

HOW DO I GET A SEAT IN A PERMIT CLASS?

STEP 1: Apply for Spring 2010 permit classes* October 19 - 28, 2009.

  • Starting October 19, complete permit application forms -- one for each permit course in the list* to the right. You may need to make several copies of the form. Only those classes listed require a permit. If a class isn’t listed, it doesn’t need a permit!
  • Fill in all parts of each form and return it to Watson 209 by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 28. Your signature on the form assures us honesty, accuracy and understanding of all deadlines and procedures!
  • Keep a list of the permits you’ve applied for by using the supplied online worksheet. We cannot supply this information after your requests have been submitted.
  • You may consult with an advisor before selecting classes. Jessica Ebert (Watson 306), and Deena Kerwin (Watson 306) are available for Pre-COMS students, conditional majors and COMS minors.

STEP 2: Claim permits October 30 - November 6, 2009.

  • Names of students who were granted permits will be listed outside Watson 209 on Friday, October 30.
  • You must claim your permit in Watson 209. You will then use the permit number to register for your class(es) on MyNIU (web based registration system)
  • All permits must be 'claimed' by November 6 or they become null and void and the seats will be available for anyone.
